Handmade zellige workshop in Fez
Our Story

Handmade in Fez

Every Atlas Zellige tile begins with clay from the Fez region, shaped by hand, sun-dried on rooftops and fired in traditional olive-pit kilns. Each piece is then cut with the menkach, a centuries-old tool that gives zellige its living, irregular edges.

No two tiles are ever the same. That is not a flaw. It is the soul of the craft.

Questions

Everything about handmade zellige, from samples to installation

Still unsure?

Our team answers every question about formats, colours, quantities and lead times.

Because each one is shaped, glazed and fired by hand. Variations in tone, texture and edge are the signature of authentic zellige, not a defect. We recommend ordering all tiles for a project at once so they come from the same firing.

Walls, kitchen splashbacks, bathrooms, showers, fireplaces and feature walls. Bejmat is also suitable for floors. For wet areas, seal the grout and use a quality waterproof adhesive.

Yes. Samples of every colour and format are available so you can see the glaze, the texture and the light in your own space before ordering.

We advise 10 to 15% on top of your measured area to allow for cutting, breakage and future repairs. Our team can calculate exact quantities from your dimensions.

Zellige is installed like any ceramic tile, with minimal grout lines to keep the handmade look. Clean with warm water and a neutral soap. Avoid acidic or abrasive products that can dull the glaze.

Stock items ship quickly. Custom colours and mosaic panels are made to order in Fez and take longer. Contact us with your project date and we will confirm timing.
